VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES
There are many ways in which individuals can volunteer their time and expertise at or with Between Friends.
Board Members
Do you feel passionately about helping to end domestic violence? Between Friends seeks diverse volunteers with a variety of professional skills to serve as board members. Board members are required to make a two year commitment.
Special
Events Volunteer Opportunities
Special events volunteering appeals to a variety of interests and commitment levels. Each year Friends organizes special events to raise awareness of domestic violence within the broader community, to raise funds to enhance agency programs, and to increase our pool of supporters.
Our annual events are The Bubble Ball (March) and Light Up the Lakefront candlelight vigil (October). Volunteers participate in these events in a wide variety of roles.
Depending on scheduling, interests, and experience, volunteers may help with the office work and planning in preparation for the events, with community outreach and public relations, or by helping out during the day of the event. These opportunities will build on volunteers’ experience in event planning, marketing, fundraising, or professional writing.
For more information about volunteering with Between Friends please contact Yesenia Romo, Director of Programs, at (773) 274-5232 x 20.
Direct
Service Volunteer Opportunities
Direct service volunteer opportunities include positions that involve
working directly with clients. Currently the direct service opportunities
available are:
- Crisis Line Volunteer
- Court Advocacy Volunteer
- Children's Group Volunteer
- Childcare Volunteer
- Youth Prevention and Education Volunteer Worker
All
direct service volunteers are required to attend a 40-hour Domestic
Violence training.
Friends provides this domestic violence training three times per year. Those volunteers who are interested in attending the training must complete a volunteer application and an interview with the Director of Programs. A commitment to one three-hour shift per week for a full year is expected.
